Are the traffic sources what you expected?
It’s good to take note to see if the links that you’ve been spreading across the web are actually getting people to click through to your album. Don’t see much in the way of traffic from your own website? It might be time to try something new. A new link might be in order, or even something as simple as changing where it’s placed on your web page.
Are there any new opportunities that you didn’t realize were there?
This is probably the most exciting part about analyzing your web hits. If someone is linking to your album from a blog, message board, or social network, you should see that incoming link. Are people spreading your links on Facebook? Is there a niche group of people connecting with your music and discussing it on a message board? Take some time to investigate. Always feel free to reach out and say thanks. You might be able to get them to post a permanent link to your album.
Are you getting traffic from people searching CD Baby?
If the answer is no, you might want to double check what you have filled out in the Sounds Like, Bio, and Style Description sections for your album. Be sure you are using keyword rich descriptions that people searching for music like yours might enter into the search box. Check out this article for more info. If people are finding your music by clicking a link inside of the CD Baby site itself, the page in which they came from will display in the referring link column.
To find the Web Hits section for your album, just login to your CD Baby member account and click on the EDIT link next to that album. Now that you’re on the album dashboard, simply click the WEB HITS link on the lower right hand side of the dashboard.
