Great news for some CD Baby artists! Nielsen SoundScan, the organization that tracks album sales and reports those figures to Billboard, told us that a handful of CD Baby artists are currently charting quite well. We’ve usually seen that at any given time, a handful of our lesser-known artists are doing great things, breaking into the public consciousness, and storming the sales charts. We’ve always found their successes to be incredibly encouraging and hope that by sharing the good news we’ll also be sharing a bit of inspiration with all CD Baby artists.
In recent months, we’ve seen soulful songwriter Michael Grimm, the latest winner of America’s Got Talent, consistently featured in the Top Sellers section on CDBaby.com. Well, now we’re happy to know the whole music industry is taking note, as Michael has 2 different records charting in the New Artist Albums category at the same time, holding the #1 and the #37 positions. He also is #22 on the Independent Albums chart and #97 on the Top Current Albums chart.
One of our favorite up-and-coming Seattle bands, The Head and the Heart, are showing really strong sales for their stunning debut, ranked #32 on the New Artist Albums chart.
A few well-known artists who got their start at CD Baby are displaying enviable sales stats, too. Piano pop songstress Sara Bareilles is #12 and the smooth-grooving Jack Johnson is #66 on the Top Current Albums chart. Our favorite neo-New Wavers in the band Metric are ranked at #97 on the Independent Current Albums chart.
