I partied with CD Baby, YouTube, and Google—and all I got was this complimentary headshot taken by a pro photographer, some free drinks, and a chance to play my music in front of the world via +GooglePlay streaming!
If you are anywhere near New York City this Thursday, come meet some of the folks behind the world’s most popular music discovery tool (YouTube), the world’s most powerful search engine (Google), and the world’s largest (and coolest!) distributor of independent music (that’s right—CD Baby)!
CD Baby, YouTube, Google, and Limelight are throwing a party at this year’s CMJ Music Marathon in NYC.
On Thursday, October 18th, head over to Google’s Openhouse Gallery; hang out with representatives from YouTube, Google Play, Google+, Limelight, and CD Baby (Kevin, Ben, and Tony); learn about how bands like Pomplamoose and Vintage Trouble have found success by monetizing their YouTube videos; check out awesome product demos; play an original song for +Google Play‘s on-air open mic; and stay for the late-night concerts—all for free! (Just be sure to RSVP.)
CD Baby artists are invited to join the festivities starting at 4pm for a special happy hour meet-up.

Special performance opportunity for musicians:
Join Google Play for a first-of-its-kind on-air open mic, broadcast live to the world via the +Google Play page. Musicians are invited to perform one original song (read: no cover song), acoustic or with minimal backline (and no profanity, please, in case the kids are watching). We’ll record the audio and provide it to performers so that they can distribute it through the Google Play artist hub.
6pm: Sign-ups start for walk-up participants (performers will chosen at random to perform alongside invited guests)
7pm – 9pm: On-air open mic
Google Play concert showcase:
10pm: Monsters Calling Home (unsigned; Google Play artist hub user)
