The Beatles released “Yesterday” as a 7″ in the U.S. today, September 13th, back in 1965.  It’s regarded as the most-covered song of all-time (over 1600 versions)!  Our friends at Limelight posted this interesting tribute on their blog today, and as a bonus, put together a brief “The History of The Cover Song” infographic.  Thought you might enjoy it.

So today, let’s all wish a very Happy Anniversary to “Yesterday.” We’re quite thankful that your original lyrics were changed. “Scrambled eggs, oh my baby how I love your legs” just doesn’t seem to convey as much emotional depth.
