The Future of Music Coalition has been doing some investigative work recently, and they’ve stated that about 43% of artists and musicians lack health insurance right now. That’s 2.5 times higher than the national average.

But as of this month, uninsured musicians can start shopping for coverage (if the website behaves, of course) — and see if they’re eligible for any available Federal subsidies.

To help you navigate through your options, Justin Colletti (an audio engineer, educator, and journalist) has put together a great informational resource called “The Uninsured Musicians’ Guide to the Affordable Care Act.”

If you’ve gone without insurance for a while, check out that article, or jump right into the healthcare purchasing process at www.healthcare.gov.

If you’ve been shopping on the healthcare exchanges, let us know how it’s going in the comments section below.
