iStock 000016348844XSmall 300x238 What Are Your Top Music Picks for 2011?As the holidays near, the procrastinator inside each of us panics more and more. I admit that I haven’t purchased a single gift yet this year. That is what this weekend is for!

On behalf of those of us who still have shopping left to do, I thought I’d ask the CD Baby community what your favorite new music was for 2011? What albums or singles moved you, inspired you, gave you a sense of elation, or made you cry?

Major or indie, young or old, feel free to comment in the section below and recommend your favorite releases of 2011. I’m sure there are plenty of people like me that could use the gift-suggestion help! And yes, for anyone who really wants to give a shout out to the Beach Boys’ Smile, re-issues count!

I’ve come across a few artistes that people should check out. The Sheepdogs, Kings of Leon, Rival Sons, Amos Lee and NAIL. These are just a few choices that cover a few genres. I’m sure one of them will please the music lover in all. Merry Christmas & a rockin’ 2012!

The jangle-pop of the Rails’ “Parallel Movements”
Insightful singer-songwriter Claire Dominque: “Someday You’ll Know”

More punk (on vinyl) by the Hangouts: “ADD Generation”

“Menace Ruine – The Die is Cast” was a surprise for me. Definately fresh sounding. Harsh yet in a mood for mind-travels.
“Smohalla – Resilience” was probably the best avantgarde thing to cover Arcturus’ abscence.
“Lord Impaler – Admire The Cosmos Black” is a very good melodic black metal album for those of us who like this music as it was played 5-10 years earlier.
“Solefald – An Icelandic Odyssey” although a bit old, I got to listen only now and I have to say this stuff is awesome!
“Ulver – Wars of the Roses”, a great follow up for “Shadows of the Sun”…
