No more direct uploads to Spotify

CD Baby will make it easy for you to switch distributors without any downtime for your catalog, and without losing any of your Spotify play counts!

After almost a year beta-testing a direct upload tool for select artists, Spotify has decided to end the program. All content delivered through that direct submission portal will be removed from Spotify by July 30th, 2019.

If you were one of those select artists, don’t worry — CD Baby is here to help as always. You can switch your catalog to CD Baby for FREE and get a dedicated Creator Services Account Manager who’ll help with the transition and provide support for future releases.

How to switch from Spotify’s direct upload service to CD Baby for free

Artist who’ve been impacted by this closure will receive an email from Spotify (check your inbox) with details on how to work with CD Baby’s Creator Services Team. Follow the simple steps in that email. From there, we’ll get in touch, transfer your catalog so there’s no downtime, make sure you keep your play counts, and help you prep for future releases too.

The value of our distribution expertise

Spotify is closing their direct upload program, in part, because they’ve realized it’s more impactful to:

… lean into the great work our distribution partners are already doing to serve the artist community. Over the past year, we’ve vastly improved our work with distribution partners to ensure metadata quality, protect artists from infringement, provide their users with instant access to Spotify for Artists, and more.

There’s much more to distribution than moving digital files from point A to B.

These changes at Spotify demonstrate the value of CD Baby’s ongoing work in robust metadata delivery, accounting, publishing administration and rights management, and our development of tools that help artists get more from their music.

Spotify is concentrating on what they do best, managing and growing the platform that defined listener-friendly streaming. And we’ll keep doing what we do best, getting your music out there worldwide, setting you up to make the most of every new release, and paying artists WEEKLY for more than 20 years.

When Spotify-direct artists switch to CD Baby, you get:

  • Industry-leading distribution (digital AND physical)
  • Support and pitching for new releases
  • Sync opportunities
  • Access to world-class Publishing Administration
  • Social video monetization on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram
  • Marketing tools for pre-saves, video premieres, and more

Be on the lookout for an email from Spotify with details about moving your catalog to CD Baby. We’re excited to help.
