Chris Robley: The “Stephen King of Indie-Pop”

Father, partner, singer, writer, award-winning poet, marketeer, frenemy of mocha milkshakes.

Chris Robley is the editor of CD Baby's DIY Musician Blog

Chris Robley was asked only two questions during his CD Baby job interview.

“Can you play Smoke on the Water on that guitar over there?”

He could. He did.

“Do you think you’d like working here?”

He would. He Does.

Over the past 13+ years Robley has worn many hats at the industry-leading music distribution and monetization service. He is currently the Senior Content Specialist, editor of the DIY Musician Blog, and co-host of the DIY Musician Podcast.

His gothic indie-pop and milltown American songs have been praised by The LA Times, The Boston Globe, KCRW, No Depression, NPR’s Second Stage, Performer, and others. Skyscraper Magazine said he is “one of the best short-story musicians to come along in quite some time.”

Robley’s poetry has been published in POETRY Magazine, Prairie Schooner, Poetry Northwest, Beloit Poetry Journal, and more. He is the winner of Boulevard’s Poetry Prize for Emerging Writers, a recipient of a Maine Literary Award in poetry, and was selected by former US Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky as a finalist for the Dorset Prize.
