One of the best ways to connect with new fans during the Christmas craze is to record a new version of an old holiday classic. Millions of people are on iTunes, Amazon, and CD Baby searching for their favorite Christmas song—and they might just discover your holiday single!

But before you choose which song to record, you’ll need to find out if you have to pay a royalty to the publisher and composer, as many holiday favorites are NOT in the public domain—meaning they are still copyrighted. Luckily, we’ve made it easy: to find out if the holiday song you want to record will require a royalty fee, grab CD Baby’s new guide, Christmas Songs in the Public Domain (and Those That Aren’t).

There’s still time, but hurry! You’ll need to sign up your holiday single with CD Baby by December 3rd to make sure it’s available on iTunes and in time for Christmas.
