The power of word-of-mouth promotion
Perform a lot, and then perform some more. That’s how Panamá’s Señor Loop has been working its way onto the global stage since 1999. Sure, in their earlier days they played shows with just a handful of people in attendance, but that was then. These days they’re known around the world, with fans spanning Europe and Latin America, and they’ve moved on to playing major festivals and conferences (Circulart, FALM and FVCM). They also got to work with Terry Brown (The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, The Who) on the mixing of their latest album. Things are only getting better with time, and they have no plans to slow down.
When asked about the secret to their success, they offered this: “Everything that has happened with Señor Loop has been because someone liked our music and told a friend, who told another friend and it went viral like that. We are the product of exchange and the relationships between people.” A prime example: in 2013, the band successfully funded their latest album, Vikorg, with Kickstarter, receiving over $20,000 in pledges from their fans.
With the band’s loyal followers spread across The Americas and the globe, the members of Señor Loop love that CD Baby has given their fans the ability to buy their albums from virtually anywhere they might be. “From the moment your discs are on CD Baby, you are ready to go out and start playing your music outside of your home country, and if someone is interested in your music, they can buy your album from any part of the world.”
