You know how iTunes seems to know the names of songs, albums, and artists when you put a CD in your computer? It isn’t magic. Let us pull back the curtain for a moment and draw your attention to a company called Gracenote who manages the CDDB (Compact Disc Database). Basically, your iTunes player queries that database to match the disc’s musical “fingerprint.”
For the convenience of your customers and fans, it is important that your CD be registered with Gracenote. You don’t want them to have to type out the song titles by hand when they put your disc in their computer. But the early bird gets the worm when it comes to initially submitting info to Gracenote. And someone else can beat you to the punch. So make sure you submit your album info correctly and soon!
