On February 1st, CD Baby will be raising our one-time submission fee for new singles from $9.95 to $12.95. If you’re already selling music through CD Baby, this change does not affect your existing CD Baby titles at all. And as always, there are no annual fees with CD Baby, so whenever you sign up, there won’t be any surprises with your existing titles.

This price increase will enable us to add resources and keep developing great new tools to help artists generate revenue above and beyond basic digital and physical sales. We’ve already put this in motion with our sync-licensing program, and we’re currently at work on more new services that will give you and your music even more opportunities to earn money.

Until February 1st, CD Baby is offering our artists the chance to sign up your next single and lock in the old price. For the next month, you can buy submission credits for $9.95 (or less if you purchase multiple submissions) and then use that credit whenever you’re ready to begin distributing your new music.

Sumbission credit pricing for existing CD Baby artists
(valid until Jan. 31, 2013):
Singles Price each Total
1 single $9.95 $9.95
3 singles $8.67 $26
5 singles $8.50 $42.50
10 singles $8.00 $80

And while you’re at it, you can also sign up to distribute multiple albums at a discount!Click HERE to purchase a single submission credit at the old price of just $9.95.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to helping you sell more music! We know that without you, there would be no CD Baby.

Why are the costs not passed onto the product consumer, rather than your clients?

    • http://diymusician.cdbaby.com/author-chris-robley Christopher Robley

Most of the new resources we’re developing are of primary interest to our artists, NOT our music-buying customers. It’s important that we let our artists set the price of their music on CDBaby.com, and the only cost we add to that is shipping.

But since the higher signup price is only a one-time fee, and since it’s only effective for future signups (i.e. existing artists will not have to pay any more for the singles they’ve already released), and since the tools we’re developing are primarily of benefit to artists (sync-licensing and micro-sync so musicians can earn money from their music’s usage on YouTube, MusicStore for Facebook App, some really exciting new products we’re about to announce, etc.) this price increase makes the most sense to us.

hi. im interested in 3 singles at $26 before the price goes up. i may concider submiting a full[10 or more song] album if i can get a good price. mp3s only ok?

Are you asking if it’s ok to sell a full album as a digital-only (MP3) release? Absolutely.

I agree.. We’re intending to release more 3 or 4 track EPs over the next year and it seems a bit weird to pay the full album price for that. A mid-way “EP” price would make a lot of sense.
