Or so says Wax about the experience of losing his direct connection to fans when he signed to Def Jam Recordings. He missed the hands-on aspects of running his own DIY music career, as well as having the primary say in his creative choices.
After an unpleasant stint on the major label, he inked his name on another Def Jam document—this time releasing him from the contract that he felt was holding him back and preventing him from growing as an artist.
