SEO Image SEO for Musicians Who Feel Like Theyve Been Left BehindSweet Search Engine Optimization, dude!

Search Engine Optimization: sounds about as cool as playing a stadium gig with khaki shorts on, right?

You’ve got more important things to do than tinker with tags and keywords and web links in order to improve your search ranking in Google.

Well, that might’ve been true a few years ago, but nowadays the deeper your understanding of SEO, the better your chances of winning new fans online. The more fans you find online, the bigger the crowd at your next show– whether you’re wearing shorts or not.

And you call yourself a “modern” musician!

Tech-savvy musicians who understand SEO and who pay attention to analytics have a leg up on the rest of the musical competition. If you’ve been a Luddite thus far, it’s not too late to get caught up!

And for anyone out there who thinks they shouldn’t have to bother with all this geeky stuff– remember: geeks are taking over the world. It’s time to learn some new tricks or hire someone who’s got them down already (in which case it would still help to have a grasp of the basics, since you’ll be the one writing the checks).

    Hey Chris,

SEO band names, that’s true. The number of times I’ve attempted to find a band on google, but discover that’s there’s a movie by the same name, or another famous person, or some different result that I wasn’t looking for. I think a great move is for bands to do an allintitle check on their name in google, eg. allintitle:name of band. I did that for my blog, and there were less than 30 results after Google omits the similar entries. So I knew, if folks typed in the name of my blog into google, the blog wouldn’t have to be fighting for attention. It’s on its own.

    Nice post again,

    Gemma
