At CD Baby, our first orders of business are getting your music distributed to our digital partners, checking in your CDs at our warehouse, and making sure your tracks and albums are available for sale in all the places you want them to be. When you signed up with us, those were probably the first things on your mind, too.
But once your music is out there for all the world to see and purchase, we bet you’re going to want to take some extra steps to make sure your work reaches as many people as possible. We can help you with that, too! We have a bunch of other services (included with your one-time distribution fee) that are available to use whenever you’re ready. Here are five of ‘em:
1. MusicStore for Facebook
Sharing music on Facebook has always been a bit of a hassle, and selling it was even tougher. With our MusicStore for Facebook, listeners can stream full tracks right from your Facebook artist page, and they can also purchase your songs and albums from the same app. It’s simple to set up, customizable, and makes sure your music is where everybody’s already hanging out anyway. Learn more [here].
2. Sync Licensing
Want to earn money when your music is used in TV shows, movies, or when it’s streamed on YouTube? With our Sync Licensing program, you can make your music work for you. If you’re signed up with us, all you have to do is opt-in to the program to make your music available. To learn more and see exactly how this works, click [here].
3. The Highest Digital Payout of Any Major Retail Site
On every digital purchase (single song or album) made from CDBaby.com, you get paid 75% of the selling price. That means for a single-song download priced at $0.99, you make a little more than $0.74 per song. That’s more than any other major retail site! (Other retailers take at least 30%.) And don’t forget: you can set the price to be whatever you want. Encourage your fans to buy directly from CD Baby to take advantage!
4. Physical Distribution Through Amazon
Much like having your music on Facebook, the world’s most popular social network, it just makes sense to make your work available on the world’s most popular online marketplace, too. We distribute your digital music to Amazon, but you can also sell physical CDs there. And just like your fans’ orders placed through CDBaby.com, you never have to worry about shipping, packing, returns, mis-ships or any other mail-order headaches. We handle it all for you. See how it works [here].
5. iTunes Trending Reports
Our newest feature is one that can help you get a little more specific in your DIY marketing, and it’s also one that’s fun to use. A trending report is a downloadable file that will give you a glimpse into your unofficial sales activity for all iTunes territories where your music is sold. It shows you recent details of your track and album sales, the dates of those sales, and the regional location of the customer who purchased your music.
If you’re not using some of these services, take advantage! They’re all free with your CD Baby distribution, and we’ve seen artists have a lot of success with all of them. Have you tried any of these services? Which one has worked for you?
